Boy scout Gael Hiromoto conducted his Eagle Scout service project as a video tour of historic sites in and near Lorton, Virginia.  This video highlights several locations of significance and interest.  One of the sites identified in his video (see https://youtu.be/kNKRcqcdreI?si=tMyRUiSQ0HkLuPu5 ) is Laurel Hill, the house of Major William Lindsay, a Revolutionary War patriot who served in the Virginia militia.  He built the house circa 1766.  It is now abandoned, located near the former Lorton Prison (now the site of the Workhorse Arts Center).  Near the house is a cemetery, and a restored brick and wrought-iron fence surrounding a marker for William Lindsay and his wife Ann C. Lindsay.  Their actual gravesite location is unknown but likely nearby on the grounds of the former Lorton Prison.  The fenced enclosure was a jointly funded project of local chapters of two heritage societies – the Anna Maria Fitzhugh Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the George Mason chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
