Next Meeting: March 20

The next Chapter Meeting will be at the Elk’s Lodge on March 20. The scheduled guest speaker is Michael Cecere Sr., an educator, historian and author. He will discuss his latest book, “Wedded to My Sword: The Revolutionary War Service of Light Horse Harry Lee”. Below is an extract from his book, page vi:

“ABOUT THE AUTHOR Michael Cecere Sr. is the proud father of Jennifer and Michael Jr. and the grateful husband of Susan Cecere. He teaches American History at Robert E. Lee High School in Fairfax County, Virginia and was named the 2005 Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. Mr. Cecere also teaches American History at Northern Virginia Community College. He holds two Master of Arts degrees from the University of Akron, on in History and the other in Political Science. An avid Revolutionary War re-enactor, he currently is the commander of the 7th Virginia Regiment and participates in numerous living history events throughout the country…”

Attending the meeting with his parents will be Bryan Habashi, the Chapter essay competition winner. His essay was entitled “Naval Contributions to American Independence” was well written and researched. His essay was selected as the VASSAR winner and has been submitted to the NSSAR competition. He will receive the Chapter Essay Medal and Certificate at the meeting.

A formal announcement for the meeting will be sent about a week to two before the meeting. Please put it on your calendar and make every effort to attend.
