In January 2022, the chapter was pleased to enter its high school student winner of the SAR’s George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay Contest in the state-wide Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution (VASSAR) competition, along with winners at other SAR chapters in Virginia. We were pleased to learn that our student won at the VASSAR level! Her essay is now entered into the national SAR level.
The George Washington Chapter agreed that the George Mason Chapter will begin hosting the annual joint December meeting on an alternating basis starting this year at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington on December 10th.
The chapter was pleased to enter its high school student winner of the SAR’s Joseph S. Rumbaugh historical oration contest in the state-wide competition, along with winners at other SAR chapters in Virginia. This state-wide contest is scheduled as an in-person event on Feb. 12, 2022, in Richmond, VA.
Also in January 2022, our chapter’s contestant in the VASSAR Eagle Scout scholarship competition was a second-place winner in this annual state-wide event.

- The Jan. 22, 2022 Rev. Peter Muhlenberg Commemoration at Woodstock, VA, sponsored by the Col. James Wood, II Chapter and the Virginia Society
- The Jan. 29, 2022 241ST Commemoration of the Battle of Cowan’s Ford in Huntersville, NC, sponsored by the Mecklenburg Chapter, North Carolina Society SAR.
