August 2021 Activities

In August 2021, chapter representatives were active at the following in-person activities:

  • On Saturday, 7 August 2021, at a National Purple Heart Day Honor Walk (5K) hosted jointly by American Legion Post 1799 in Haymarket, VA and the George Mason Chapter, Chapter President Ken Morris presented SAR Wounded Warrior Challenge Coins and Certificates to three Purple Heart recipients who attended. There were approximately 25 veterans participating in the Honor Walk, along with about 10 Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts and their parents. 

 

  • On August 13-14, 2021, Chapter President Ken Morris attended the Atlantic Middle States Association (AMSA) Conference in Annapolis, MD. The AMSA is comprised of the following seven State Societies:
    • Virginia
    • District of Columbia
    • Maryland
    • Pennsylvania
    • Delaware
    • New Jersey
    • New York

 

Each year the AMSA conducts an ASMS Conference hosted by one of the State Societies in rotation.  In 2021 the Conference was hosted by the Maryland Society.

 

  • On August 21, 2021, at the Patriot Grave Marking for William Clarke (1758-1827) at the Madden Family Cemetery, Elkwood, Culpeper County, VA, Chapter President Ken Morris attended in uniform for the color guard and presented the George Mason Chapter Wreath.

 

  • On August 28, 2021, Chapter President Ken Morris presented a SAR Wounded Warrior Challenge Coin and Certificate to a Purple Heart recipient at a meeting of the American Legion Post 1799 in Haymarket, VA.
